Big Pedal and Family Fun Day

Preston’s Big Pedal & Family Festival is coming to Avenham Park this Sunday, July 26.  It’s a celebration of all things cycling and is sure to be great fun and Cycle Alert will be there for a spot of Exchanging Places with a Fire Engine!  We’ll be on-site to let you and the kids see the optic limitations from a high vehicle, and will be there to distribute free cycle safety literature and hi-vis clothing.

The Big Pedal will provide a traffic free family friendly cycle route which will be open to ride throughout the day.

The event will run from 10am to 3pm across the day. If you want to take part you should sign up to The Big Pedal here!

Bike based fun includes:

  • Traffic free circular cycle route
  • Sky Ride local - visit the Sky Ride website to book
  • Smoothie bike - cycle your way to a free healthy smoothie!
  • Bike security marking
  • British Cycling stall, offering you the chance to win a prize worth £300
  • Go Velo:
    • Dr Bike
    • Bike maintenance lessons
    • Bikeability / Go Ride skills course
  • Preston on wheels - adapted cycles to try
  • Bike Track

For those who want to get active but don’t fancy cycling, the council’s What Women Want team will also be on site with classes you can join in, all day!:

  • 11.30am-12.15pm - Legs, Bums and Tums
  • 12.45pm-1.30pm - Clubbercise
  • 2pm-2.45pm - Zumba

If you are attending Preston’s Big Pedal you could win one of several prizes if you pre-register, and be fast-tracked through on the day!

You can also sign up on the day, but please be aware there may be queues so best to get your name down in advance!
